Yoshitake Expe creates waves of transcendental soundscapes using a guitar and over seventy effects pedals. Drawing from a range of influences including ambient, funk, electronic and Brazilian music, Yoshitake’s technique, dubbed “space guitar,” is characterized by ambient waves of ostinato, funk-inspired bass lines and polyrhythmic meter. His work as a solo artist and as a guitaristhas been featured in film, and praised throughout the Japanese press, including a nod for best album of 2003 from Music Magazine. Yoshitake currently works with famed producer and composer Yamamoto Seichi, “one of the most prolific forces over the last 20 years in the Kansai music scene” (The Japan Times) in the minimal funk band Para. He has worked with Yamantaka Eye (Boredoms), Keiji Haino, Marcos Suzano, and many more.
